Peter Tessier: Hatrik Laine strikes again in win over Stars It was a bit touch and go but Patrik Laine with 3 goals including the game-winner leads Jets to win over Stars.

With the trade deadline coming..... might be wise to part with stafford, postma, Perreault and Stuart..

not to rain on the parade, but I am not buying into Maurice's post game that even without the three goals this was Laine's best game this year!! I loved the three goals of course but we should all realize Maurice is trying to build this kid up and is not being honest, if he was, he'd come out and say that Laine seems to be playing timid and afraid since returning from his concussion and he is struggling along the boards in our end to get the puck out. that's the truth.

also, is there a team in the NHL that struggles to make a pass like we do? We must be the absolute worst passing team in the league. this is a big reason our PP sucks, guys are taking passes in their skates all day long

Agreed with all, with the exception of Perreault... I would think he's the guy we want to entice Vegas into taking for the entry draft.

But what if they are only offering a $20 card to Giant Tiger. Do you still make the deal? Cause that's what we will get for those bums.

Peter, you continue to rag on Scheifele, which I just don't understand. Your latest flavour is questioning his "battle strength". I seen your tweets last night that quieted down as he continued to get points. His development curve has been dramatic and is now facing the other teams top pairings and top defensive centreman. We all know that his "puck or battle strength" has been an issue for him forever. For the 1st few years everyone called him "bambi or fefe" and he's worked his tail off to get stronger every year that we can only wish other players would do. Maybe you should focus on the fact that he currently sits 7th in league scoring or is a point per game player or how about being a plus player on what is quit simply a terrible team right now. He's the ripe old age of 23 and doing so many things right on and off the ice but yet you give him a "bad" rating on a night he puts up 3 apples.....give me a team full of Scheifele players thank you very much.

I know where you're coming from.

I got some flack from others too. Sometimes with Twitter it's not clear if it's an 'at the moment' analysis or a general opinion of the player. Last night was an at the moment.

You won't hear me criticize 55's offensive prowess, it's good and it's going to get better too especially when he's feeding Laine and Ehlers in a few years. What is keeping him from being truly an elite centre is the other stuff, his physical side.

I don't mean hits but the battle, the strength and the determination. When its not there it's obvious in his game. That's all I mean.

He was not the only C to have an off night, Little and Petan were far from ideal there too IMO.

Does that make sense?

I see what you're driving at and I can kinda go with the determination thing. We all know how 55 eats and breathes everything hockey so when it's obvious his team is going to once again be outside the playoff line I guess I don't blame him for not having that "extra gear" every night.....I'd be depressed too. There's just soooo many things wrong with this team right now that 55 wouldn't be my focus. For example....WHY DOES STUART GET 1ST PK TIME!!!! Pomo must go!

Here's a positive stat that was shared by bob Mckenzie this morning. Apparently Laine scores 3 goals per game when the temperature in Winnipeg increases by 13 degrees over the course of 27 hours. He also went on to say that Pavelec lets 3 or more goals in when he's playing in the NHL and the daily average temperature is below zero.

Imagine what Laine would do in Arizona or LA where the temperature increases 13 degrees every day from early morning to afternoon.
